The WTM range of heat treatment systems includes furnaces whose design can be in-line or off-line and adjusted according to the customer preferences, the available space, the cable and process requirements and other variables.
This new video showcases our latest high-temperature sintering line, studied to provide manufacturers with mixed heating technology and a vertical layout that optimizes space and cable management along the heating channel. This machine is conceived to sinter cables insulated with PTFE, polyimide, FEP tapes and other thermoplastic materials.
It is a high-tech furnace, with temperature-controlled zones and operating with mixed heating technology (i.e. heating process with both infrared lamps and forced hot air). The combination of convection and irradiation effects makes this kind of oven particularly suitable for the heat treatment of those single cables and cable bundles that require uniformity, high precision and high temperatures, such as: aircraft cables, aerospace applications, oil&gas, chemical sector, etc.
After the preheating phase (which is optional), the cable to be treated is driven through the sintering oven, reaching temperatures up to 700 °C; if needed, it can also be passed again into the sintering chamber by means of special return pulleys, in order to increase the permanence and speed up the process.
In our ovens, the heating tunnel can be divided up to three sections with independent temperature control, managed by of dedicated thermocouples, and the operator can select the operating mode of each section among three different configurations:
- only CONVECTION effect;
- only INFRARED IRRADIATION;
- combination of CONVECTION EFFECT + INFRARED IRRADIATION.
The percentage of the two effects is adjustable as desired, according to the production needs connected to the cable to obtain. All the operational parameters can be easily set and monitored through our user-friendly HMI interface on the touchscreen operator terminal.
The fully-equipped cable sintering line visible in this video is composed by the following units:
- single-shaft pay-off with dancer for tension control;
- vertical sintering oven, with automatic opening and closing movements;
- control panel, for commanding the line and setting process parameters;
- caterpillar;
- single-shaft take-up with dancer tension control.
